Ash in a flame

We live through a lie
Seek redemption in the sky
Our sins stick like dirt
So we tempt n’ we flirt
Life teases us with pleasing
Get caught up in the teasing
We never chose to be faithless
To be moving yet restless
We sons’ of God, gone missing
Daughters’ of nature, done hissing
I scratch beneath my surface
Feel hell’s heat, life’s furnace
Dirt on my knees n’ my name
Till I return as ash in a flame
